Introduction

Professor Syed Bashir HussainJafri(LATE), Died on 21-JAN-2016, Nishan-e-Sipas, an Iluminary from the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir was born on the 15th May, 1934 at Sohawa Sharif District Bagh in a noble religious family of Saadat-e-Gardazia. He received his early education at Dhirkot, Bagh and then passed his matriculation from the Government High School, Rawalakot. For further studies he joined, Islamia Collage Lahore, did his Graduation and passed his M.A from the Punjab University Oriental College, Lahore in 1958. The same year he appeared in Civil Services Competition exam from the Punjab province. He joined civil service at Rawalpindi in capacity of a District Urban Development Officer in August 1958. He worked as a member on the team responsible for shifting of the Central Government offices from Karachi to Rawalpindi in 1960. He got his service transferred from the district Administration to the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad In 1964 (on deputation) then in 1975 he was transferred as Science Promotion Officer (Ministry of Science & Technology Islamabad). During the last two assignments Mr. Jafri remained busy at libraries as a Research Scholar & produced five research papers (Monographs) on different topics wiz Physics, Medical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Zoology, Agriculture and obtained awards and cash prizes on his works. In all he wrote sixteen books, seven thousand columns, essays, stories, features etc. both in Urdu & English, on multi-dimensional topics and gained honour, respect in the realm of literature. He became a celebrity both in science & arts circle as you will see hereunder. He enjoyed as a visiting professor in UK, USA from 1988 onward. He enjoyed two round the world trips in 1988 and 1989 at his own, each being 7 months duration. He visited six sub-continents & hundreds of countries in 22 years. He is a well known all-rounder.

It was in 1965, that he got membership at the Pakistan Association for the Advancement at of Science and Technology (PAST) a well known learned body of scientists and Technologists of Pakistan. In 1975 a Science Conference was held under the auspices of PAST at Multan, where the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto, was the chief guest. Dr. M.A Qazi (Secretary Science &Technology Division in the Ministry of Education) and Dr. Zafar Ali Hashmi (Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad) advised me to prepare a welcome address for the chief guest, which I did. It was highly hailed and the P.M was pleased to announce a separate Ministry of Science & Technology in Pakistan, instead of a division. It was in 1940-41, when the second world war was at its heights. The warring groups were (1) Allied Forces: (Brittan, USA, Canada, Australia, USSR, India – whole of Europe, France etc.) and (2) AXIS wiz Germany, Japan and Italia only three against the whole world (Allied). AXIS Group was so powerful that its forces kept advancing in Europe, Africa and Asia.

The Indian sub-continent wiz India, Pakistan, Bangla Dish, Sirilanka, etc. was a colony of the British Empire.

As per secord some 27 lakhs Indian (sub-continent) were enrolled in the British Indian Army to fight the war. As many as 72, 200 soldiers & officers amongst 27 lakhs were from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. To be concise about 40,000 amongst 72200 were from the Poonch District mainly from Sudhanuti and Bagh Tehsils (Then known).

In this total about 150 soldiers belonged to my village Sohawa Sharif in Tehsil Bagh. Most of these army personnel’s and their parents were illiterates. Within 6 months period army recruit were trained in Roman Urdu, they could communicate with their family members in Urdu as under

I was to read such letters for the family members, would also write in roman Urdu for their loved one (soldiers). It was from this beginning that I kept writing to most dignified peoples in India Pakistan sub-continent around 1945 onward, so as many as 1200 original letters (received by me in response) are in my record. Also, I managed Photostats of my letters to VIPs and others are in my record. Surely, this is a great treasure for literates in the country if published. To cut short, I enjoyed my life. If at all I am back from JANNAT to live again in Pakistan in my home with my family okay! I accept my present life. Whatever, I could do I did it. Nothing more needed. I was never enemy to my relatives, friends, common peoples, never tried to harm someone, to hate a human being, never humiliated others, never wrote against any citizen. However, I don’t like corrupt peoples, liars, Hippocrates and untruthful peoples. My motto of life is “Let others live”. I enjoy reading habits, am usually engaged in studies and at my writing table. Nothing less than 10 foolscap size papers are written per day by my pen. I never call a stenographer to assist me.

I am a humble person at the age of 78 years, recording my memories and whatever “little” I have done up till now. We are here on the earth for a little or specific period. God knows, what is further for us we beg for an eternal life in the heaven. We as a Muslim beg many facilities and nice treatment at the other end. Whatever I did in my practical life, it stands noted in my autobiography vol. 1 and 2 namely “Zindabad” and “Paindabad” (Hopefully, the third volume “Tabindabad” may come out if the lease of my life is extended). Whosoever, reads these two volumes and my other books, writings, essays features, stories and columns will judge myself where, I stand? I again say “I am the most humble person” but I spent my life time in doing good things to others I am always there for dissemination of useful and good information for the whole society. I leave this entire asset for the coming generations and be taken as a drop in the ocean.

As already written I am in the field of journalism (as a hobby) since 1962/63 was and am on the honorary editorial board of certain dailies, weeklies, monthlies etc. In Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.Since I am a tourist as well as I enjoy friendship round the world (mostly U.K, USA, Canada, and UAE) with almost five thousand families. Also, am Chairman of the Kashmir Study Leaguea literary body which exists in U.K, USA, Canada and UAE. I am the founder president of this literary body so, this website must be visited by thousands of peoples in the world.

I say on oath that whatever, I have written is correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. I am honest to God! The Almighty! And declare in the bettermeant of the humanity, was also kind to the animal world, was and am friendly with the vegetation viz. Trees, shrubs, fauna and flora never worked to disturb the echo system. Would like to side with the needy people in the society.

I distributed my timings in a scientific, systematic and a justified way. Where necessary I enjoyed rest and sleep. Outing at a selected time seen the whole world as stated under my tourism chapter. Greenery, snowy mountains, lush green valleys, water falls, flowers, gardens and the wildlife appears closet to me. Photography being my hobby, was able to catch and arrest the outer beauties of the world in my camera, like-wiseinner beauties, stood stored in my soul heart and mind. My weaknesses, what so ever, are open to Almighty God! The people around me in the society can be the best judges and witnesses. I pray to God! Be kind to me at the doomsday! As an empty handed person, I present myself to you the Almighty!
