As a Public Servant

I joined as a public servant having passed examination from the Punjab public service commission. I was holding the post of District Rehabilitation and Development Officer for Rawalpindi city. I was transferred to Faisalabad, in the same capacity in 1960-61. Therefrom, I joined the West Pakistan Agricultural University, Faisalabad, (on deputation) as an Assistant Registrar, in 1964.

In 1975, my services were obtained (on deputation) by the Pakistan Science Foundation (Ministry of Science and Technology) Islamabad. Here, I was working as a Science Promotion Officer, afterwards as Head Department of Science Promotion, Publications and Information. I was then made the first Secretary of the National Science Centre, Islamabad in 1978. I was retired on pension on 14-5-1994 having completed 60 years of my age.

After my retirement, I kept visiting USA, Europe at my own in 1998, I was re-employed (on contract basis) as Professor and Director Research, Kashmir Studies at the AL-KHAIR University Islamabad. In September 2007, my services (on contract) were obtained by the University of Azad Kashmir Institute of Kashmir at its institute of Kashmir Studies. A new chair as “Ch. Ghulam Abbsas Chair” was established. I was taken as ‘an Advisor at this chair. I am still holding this position (2011).

Introduction

Professor Syed Bashir HussainJafri(LATE), Died on 21-JAN-2016, Nishan-e-Sipas, an Iluminary from the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir was born on the 15th May, 1934 at Sohawa Sharif District Bagh in a noble religious family of Saadat-e-Gardazia. He received his early education at Dhirkot, Bagh and then passed his matriculation from the Government High School, Rawalakot. For further studies he joined, Islamia Collage Lahore, did his Graduation and passed his M.A from the Punjab University Oriental College, Lahore in 1958.
