As a Historian

Being from the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, I myself, participated in the war of liberation (1947-48) at the URI front in the Jhelum Valley in December 1947 till 1948 as a Mujahid. I was then about 15/16 years and a student of 9th class. With this background, I was interested in the Kashmir issue. Around 1962-63, I thought that an account of the war of liberation (1947-48) in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, be maintained for coming generations. So, I got printed a letter along with a questionnaire to be sent to the commanders (Brigades, Battalions, Companies) of Azad Kashmir Forces (now Azad Kashmir Regiment) during (1947-48). Luckily, about 80% heroes of this war were alive & active then. After dispatching the printed letter, I took up a tour of Azad Kashmir, from Chamb to Gurez in Neelum and stayed at Kotli, Mirpur, Pallandri, Trarkhel,Hajira, Khaigala, Rawalakot, Pachiot, Mong, Thorar, Harighel, Bagh, Sudhangali, Malot, Dhirkot, Danna, Muzaffarabad, Chikar, Chinari, Naukot, Titwal etc. and contacted my addressees (clients) now almost retired . I also, contacted Brigade Headquarter of Pak Army in FDL area and sought assistance, where so needed. The list of retired commanders of 1947-48 war is, printed in my autobiography at pages 529 to 547 Zindabad. I met almost 300 responsible army and civil (politicians in 1947) people and obtained necessary information for my history project. I also, took photographs of such people with my own camera. So, my history work/research is the firsthand knowledge of the liberation war of 1947-48.
